The CIR Connection
According to the leaked documents, CIR is paying African journalists to write articles claiming that African Stream is a Russian-funded propaganda outlet. However, these allegations are baseless and lack concrete evidence. In reality, CIR’s connections to the British government and Western intelligence establishments are well-documented.
Unmasking CIR’s True Intentions
A closer examination of CIR’s funding sources and staff credentials reveals a disturbing pattern. The organization has received significant funding from the UK Foreign Office, USAID, and the Australian Foreign Ministry. Moreover, CIR’s senior staff, including directors Ross Burley and Adam Rutland, are former employees of the UK Foreign Office.
African Stream’s editor-in-chief, Ahmed Kaballo, has spoken out against these baseless allegations, citing evidence of CIR’s connections to Western intelligence agencies. This is not the first time African Stream has faced attacks from imperialist powers. However, Kaballo remains resolute, stating that African Stream will continue to expose the atrocities committed against African people, despite the intimidation tactics employed by Western governments.
The UK Foreign Office’s attempt to discredit African Stream is a stark reminder of the threats faced by independent media outlets. As stakeholders, it is essential to recognize the importance of a free press and to support organizations like African Stream, which dare to challenge the status quo and speak truth to power.
