LOS ANGELES, CA – In a landmark decision, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has elected acclaimed producer Lynette Howell Taylor as its new president, marking a new chapter for the prestigious organization. The announcement, made by the Academy’s Board of Governors, also introduced the 2025-2026 slate of officers, poised to steer the Academy’s mission of celebrating global filmmaking excellence.
Joining Howell Taylor in leadership roles are:

– **Jennifer Fox** (Producers Branch), Vice President and Chair of the Awards Committee
– **Simon Kilmurry** (Documentary Branch), Vice President/Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee
– **Lou Diamond Phillips** (Actors Branch), Vice President and Chair of the Equity and Inclusion Committee
– **Howard A. Rodman** (Writers Branch), Vice President/Secretary and Chair of the Governance Committee

Howell Taylor, who begins her first term as president in her second term as a Producers Branch governor, brings a wealth of experience. A member since 2014, she has produced over 25 films, including the Oscar-nominated *A Star is Born* and the Emmy-nominated 92nd Oscars® broadcast in 2020. Her upcoming projects, such as *The Accountant 2* and *Roofman*, further cement her influence in the industry.
The newly elected officers, including re-elected Barber and Rodman, alongside first-time officers Fox, Kilmurry, and Phillips, will guide the Academy’s strategic vision, financial stability, and commitment to equity and inclusion. The Board of Governors, limited to two three-year terms with a maximum of four consecutive years per office, ensures fresh perspectives while advancing the Academy’s global mission.
