ABUJA – In a blistering critique of the current administration, Hon. Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin has issued a stark warning to Nigerians regarding the 2027 general elections, declaring that re-electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be a catastrophic error for the nation’s unity, economy, and democratic survival.
In a statement made available to Stakeholders Magazine, Dasin argued that the President has demonstrated an incapacity to change his leadership style, citing a litany of infractions ranging from lopsided appointments to the alleged tampering with signed laws.
According to Dasin, the mood of the nation is one of palpable fear. “Most people I spoke to regarding the desirability or otherwise of electing President Tinubu for another four years are of the view that there are reasons to be afraid of what he would do next,” he stated.
The Nepotism ChargeDasin accused the President of brazen nepotism, alleging that critical federal appointments, particularly in revenue-generating agencies, are reserved exclusively for members of the President’s ethnic group.
“The President is still appointing only members of his ethnic group as heads of most important federal government departments and parastatals… and he shows no remorse even after these misdeeds are shown to him,” Dasin noted. He warned that rewarding such behavior with a second term would be “dangerous.”
Religious Fault LinesRecall that in 2023, the APC fielded a Muslim-Muslim ticket against public outcry. Dasin warns that this “faulty foundation” continues to haunt the polity. “Against all wise counsel in 2022, Tinubu, a Muslim, insisted on running with Kashim, a Muslim, in a country where religions are almost evenly divided,” Dasin said. He expressed fears that a re-election in 2027 would entrench religious suspicion, particularly in the North where minority Christians remain fearful of marginalization, a situation he predicted could “lead to violence in some places.”
International Reputation and “Baggage”The statement also dragged up the President’s controversial past, specifically the 1993 forfeiture of $460,000 to the US government linked to narcotics investigations. Dasin argued that this “baggage” invites contempt from world leaders and contradicts the nation’s anti-drug stance. “He is now making nonsense of the work of the NDLEA as he is busy pardoning people convicted of drug-related offenses in Nigeria,” Dasin alleged.
Economic Sabotage in the NorthFocusing on the regional economy, Dasin lamented the neglect of agriculture, the North’s economic bedrock. He accused the President of shipping jobs abroad by opening floodgates for grain importation, a policy he claims has “pauperized Northern Nigerian farmers.”
Dictatorship and the One-Party State PlotPerhaps the most chilling allegation is Dasin’s claim that the President is actively engineering a one-party state by crippling the opposition. He cited the coercion of opposition figures and the alleged weaponization of the EFCC.
“Under Tinubu, what happened during Obasanjo’s dubious third term bid is child’s play,” Dasin declared. “PDP governors and opposition leaders are now either in APC for fear of the EFCC or are being physically arrested… Today PDP is no more. Wadata Plaza is under Wike’s lock and key.”
Budget Failures and Constitutional BreachesDasin also took a swipe at the administration’s fiscal discipline, describing the concurrent running of the 2024, 2025, and 2026 budgets as “419.” He claimed the capital budget for 2025 saw “zero implementation” and that the President operates outside of appropriation laws with no National Assembly to check him.
The Tax Reform ScandalIn a final, grave accusation, Dasin alleged that the President tampered with the gazetted versions of the Tax Reform Laws signed on June 26, 2025. “The tax reforms law is now alleged to contain substantial differences from the versions passed by the National Assembly,” Dasin revealed. He concluded that in a functioning democracy, such a “rape of the constitution” would be grounds for immediate impeachment. “Since Tinubu cannot change, there is no need to elect him again,” Dasin concluded.
