LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that submissions for the 2026 Scientific and Technical Awards are now open, welcoming innovators and industry leaders to showcase their groundbreaking contributions to filmmaking. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT.
The Scientific and Technical Awards celebrate individuals and companies whose pioneering devices, methods, formulas, discoveries, and inventions have significantly advanced the art and technology of motion pictures. These awards highlight the transformative impact of innovation on the global film industry, recognizing achievements that shape the future of storytelling.
In August 2025, the Academy will release a list of scientific and technical areas under investigation, offering stakeholders and innovators the opportunity to submit additional entries for consideration. The Scientific and Technical Awards Executive Committee, composed of esteemed engineers, scientists, and filmmakers, will conduct thorough evaluations in the fall. Their recommendations will be presented to the Academy’s Board of Governors, which will determine the final recipients.
The Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, honoring the visionaries driving technological excellence in cinema.
