Days after assuming the role of Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari addressed the company’s staff, pledging to drive NNPC’s bold ambitions and establish it as a source of pride for all Nigerians.
Speaking at a town hall meeting at NNPC Towers in Abuja, Ojulari described leading NNPC Ltd. as a profound honor and responsibility, emphasizing its pivotal role in Nigeria’s future. “We are at the threshold of a new era that demands courage, professionalism, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. The challenges are significant, but the opportunity to shape Nigeria’s energy landscape is immense,” he told thousands of employees.
Ojulari outlined an ambitious agenda, targeting $30 billion in sectoral investments by 2027 and $60 billion by 2030; increasing crude oil production to over 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million by 2030; expanding refining capacity to 200,000 barrels per day by 2027 and 500,000 by 2030; boosting gas production to 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2027 and 12 billion by 2030; and enhancing energy access and affordability nationwide.
To achieve these goals, NNPC Ltd. will streamline its business structure for agility and value creation, conduct independent value assessments for data-driven decisions, implement a robust performance management system, foster transparent partnerships, and proactively shape its public narrative.
Ojulari stressed that these targets represent more than metrics—they symbolize hope, job creation, industrial growth, and energy security for millions of Nigerians. He described NNPC Ltd. as a transformed, forward-looking organization leading Nigeria’s energy evolution. “It’s time to tell our story of innovation, reform, and national pride,” he said.
Urging staff to embrace NNPC’s transformation into a fully-fledged limited liability company, Ojulari emphasized the need for transparency, profitability, and accountability. He committed to fostering an environment where both experienced and younger employees can excel, promising a workplace that empowers staff to outperform competitors.
Ojulari also pledged to strengthen collaboration with in-house and national unions, building trust-based relationships grounded in shared goals. He called on employees to act with integrity, urgency, and excellence.
“Our people are our greatest asset,” Ojulari concluded. “Together, we will build a high-performing, globally competitive NNPC Ltd. that is proudly Nigerian and world-class.”
